Knoops’ brand expansion takes its delicious chocolate drinks north of the border with a double launch in Edinburgh

This week, we worked with Knoops on the launch of the pioneering brand’s new Scottish stores – this is part of its exciting national expansion plan, which sees the chocolate drinks company continue to forge a new category in the UK, for both cafes and drinks.

Knoops decided that one store opening in Scotland was not enough, and Edinburgh was treated to two openings within a week, just a few miles of each other in the city.

Knoops has been a long term client of Palm with a clear success story – we have loved supporting the communications as the brand has grown – starting from a single café in Rye, Sussex to a truly revolutionary chocolate drinks brand that now has SEVENTEEN sites nationwide.

Apart from the amazing quality drinks (who doesn’t like hot – or cold!- chocolate?!), it’s a brand that is truly egalitarian – appealing to a wide demographic and catering for a spectrum of tastes and preferences with its customisable chocolate percentage menu. From the sweet-toothed chocoholics that may experiment with an indulgent white chocolate serve, to the cacao connoisseur who opts for a 72% Peruvian extra dark with ginger – Knoops’ growing following loves the freedom and choice that the brand gives to consumers.

To ensure that Scottish press could truly get under the skin of the brand and its ethos, we negotiated an exclusive behind the scenes looks at the Old Town location and interviews with inspiring Knoops founder and ‘master distiller’ Jens Knoop. Our second store, in the New Town, was more suited to an immersive and hands on influencer event, to which we carefully selected some dynamic content creators, working in tandem with the client to ensure there was an excess of UGC and buzz to capture that ‘launch moment’.

And because the people behind the business can share the journey from a compelling and personal perspective, we also secured an interview in The Times with CEO William Gordon-Harris and with Master Distiller and cacao expert Jens Knoops in the Mail Online.
