It has been reported in this week’s edition of The Economist that Metro has become the country’s biggest daily print paper. According to figures released by the National Readership Survey, the free morning paper attracts an audience of 10.4m a month[1], with 1.5m copies being handed out every weekday. Unlike other tabloids, the paper’s apolitical stance and omission of opinion columns have been credited for its success, with editor Ted Young recognising that commuters “don’t want to be picking up something they profoundly disagree with.”
