Iceland supermarkets to ban palm oil in own-brand products

Iceland has become the first major UK supermarket to ban palm oil in its own-brand goods, after stating that it was used in more than fifty percent of its products.

This morning, BBC News reported that the ban only covers the supermarket’s own-brand products, suggesting that other goods sold in its stores may still contain palm oil.

In light of recent legislation on the sugar tax, age limits introduced to energy drinks and mounting discussion surrounding single-use plastics, the growing trend for self-imposed or government-led regulation is becoming increasingly present in the food and drink industry.
