A Day in the Life of an Intern at Palm PR

At 9am I’m in the office and ready to start the day. On my way to my desk I pick up a few national papers, which I scan in search of relevant articles to the industry and to clients represented by Palm. This task is great as it keeps you aware of current events and helps develop your understand of what is happening in the industry. It’s also really interesting as you are often finding articles that are of interest to you, for instance I’m always seeing restaurant reviews that I find myself writing down as a place I could visit in the future.

At 10am we have a meeting to go over what we’ve all found in the papers that morning and then it’s back to the desks to start with any tasks I have been given by my mentor for that day. Each intern shadows an account executive, who provide them with tasks and ensures that they are always developing their skills. In the morning I can be helping to create media lists, researching current online influencers and drafting press books full of coverage that was achieved for Palm clients.  As an intern, you are always given feedback on what work you have done which is really useful for your continuous improvement.

By 1pm its lunch time! Palm are located in middle of Shoreditch where there is plenty of choice for you to find somewhere to eat. I find myself always attempting to try somewhere new every few days as there is an abundance of good places to try. Definitely recommend stretching your legs and trying out Box Park.

After lunch, at 2pm, I was able to take part in a media drop. This involved planning the route, picking up a new range of products and working with the team to hand deliver them to various journalists at publications such as Vogue Magazine and GQ Magazine. This was a great opportunity to visit a national publishing house & even talk to journalists face to face.

For the rest of the afternoon I assist on putting together send outs, researching blog post and helping to evaluate work.

By 6pm I’m sufficiently tired but can head home feeling accomplished and excited to come in for the next day.

There are is always the opportunity to socialise with the team as there is often an after work trip to one of the local pubs or bars.

Each individual day at Palm varies which keeps it interesting and dynamic place to develop your skills
